President Mugabe yesterday defended his Cabinet appointments which analysts have slammed as recycling of deadwood.
Speaking to journalists after the swearing in of ministers and their deputies, Mugabe said his decisions were based on party loyalty.
He said his new administration comprised holders of university degrees save for one or two who had only attained O Level education.
President Mugabe also tried to strike a balancing act. Reacting to criticism that women representation in Cabinet was appalling as there were only 3 women out of 26 ministers Mugabe said there were few women in universities.
Mugabe did not announce the State Security minister saying he will run the Central Intelligence Organisation and Presidential Affairs minister Didymus Mutasa will also be in charges of the affairs.
