The newly appointed cabinet ministers have been briefed on their conditions of service and the framework that has been put in place to guide the new administration until 2018.
The briefing was held at Munhumutapa offices in Harare on Thursday morning.
A source close to the meeting revealed that it was a routine procedure held after every general election, where ministers are taken through the scope of their responsibilities and security issues, among other matters.
The new cabinet has 26 ministries reduced from the previous 33.
The source said as a result of this adjustment, some ministries have lost their key components, meaning a re-arrangement of portfolios.
The Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda said the meeting signals the commencement of business, adding that ministers were upraised on a draft working paper which is to be adopted as the socio-economic framework.
The other officials who briefed the ministers include the Chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC), Dr Mariyawanda Nzuwa; Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) Director General, Happyton Bonyongwe; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Willard Manungo and the Central Mechanical Engineering Department (CMED) Director, Davison Mhaka.
Later in the day, deputy ministers as well as ministers of state for the country's 10 provinces were also taken through a similar briefing.
