Government has urged Zimbabweans to desist from illegally occupying land which they have not been allocated by authorities as this creates disorder.

Following reports of people illegally occupying land around the country, the Deputy Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement, Tendai Savanhu, has castigated individuals establishing these settlements highlighting that this tarnishes the image of the government.

Addressing Zanu PF supporters in Mbare constituency to give feedback to the electorate, Savanhu said people who need land should follow proper procedures by applying to the respective government departments, urging those who have built illegal settlements to remove them.

"We now hear of people who are allocating themselves land and building illegal structures, that is not a way to develop, one must follow the laid down procedures," said Savanhu.

Savanhu said government will strive for those that require land to get it, urging people on the land to be productive to necessitate the success of the agriculture sector which feeds into industry and commerce.

The feed back meeting, which was attended by party supporters, Zanu PF councillors and the constituency leadership, gave a platform for the Mbare legislator to thank the electorate for voting resoundingly for Zanu PF candidates.
