Journalists urged to respect national objectives

Stakeholders in the media industry have called for practising journalists to respect national objectives as enunciated in the new constitution while challenging employers to review media practitioners' remuneration.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Zimbabwe Media Commission, Dr Tafataona Mahoso, said the media are used to shape societies and impart news of note and commentary of interest.
Dr Mahoso also said he expects journalists to respect national objectives.
The Secretary General of the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists, Foster Dongozi, said he expects a review of media practitioners' remuneration and working conditions.
Veteran journalist Senzo Mpofu expressed hope that the new administration will further open up the airwaves.
The Ministry of Media, Information and Broadcasting Services is led by Professor Jonathan Moyo who is deputised by Supa Mandiwanzira, a former ZBC News business reporter and news anchor.
