Govt promise civil servants salary increment before year end

The government has promised to effect a salary increment for the civil service before the end of the year and has instructed civil servants' representative bodies to urgently submit their salary adjustment proposals.
The Civil Service Commission this Tuesday held closed door deliberations with civil servants representative bodies and assured them salary adjustments will be made before the end of the year.
Apex Council Chairman, David Dzatsunga confirmed the development and said the government had promised to mobilise resources.
Mr Dzatsunga told the ZBC News that government asked civil servants representatives to submit proposal papers for their salary and condition of service reviews and promised to increase salaries before the end of the year.
"We are happy that after a long period of non-fruitful meetings, we have finally reached a stage where we can engage our superiors and we see light at the end of the tunnel.
Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) Secretary General, Raymond Majongwe and Teachers Union of Zimbabwe Secretary General, Ottoman Magaya said there is notable progress in the engagement.
In his address during the official opening of the 8th Parliament of Zimbabwe this Tuesday, President Robert Mugabe said one of the new government's priorities is to ensure that civil servants' salaries are reviewed urgently.
