A delegation of 16 engineers from China has arrived in Harare.
The engineers are part of a team of 46 engineers seconded to Harare for the next four years to help rehabilitate Harare's water and sewer infrastructure under the US$144 million loan advanced by the China Exim Bank in 2011.
Harare Water Director, Engineer Christopher Zvobgo said the experts will work with engineers from Harare Water to rehabilitate the Morton Jaffray water treatment plant, Warren Control, Alex Park and the Letombo pump stations.
The rehabilitation of the water plants is expected to increase the amount of water reaching the residents while the rehabilitation of the sewer plants will reduce pollution of water bodies and the cost of treatment.
Harare has been experiencing water challenges over some years and experts say the problem is due to obsolete equipment.
