A 27-year-old taxi driver from Marondera was last week allegedly killed by a man who had hired him.
Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza said police have since arrested Innocent Nyarambi (22) in connection with the killing and he is in custody assisting with investigations.
It is alleged that on September 13, Macphen left home driving his Toyota Vitz taxi and did not return home.
On September 14, Macphen's body was discovered by a passer-by from Baker Farm lying close to an anthill.
The passer-by later went to report the matter at a police post at Ijava.
Police went to the scene and discovered Macphen's body which had a deep cut on the throat.
It is suspected that Macphen's body was dragged 30 metres from the road.
Police recovered Macphen's taxi on September 16 at Janet Farm in Marondera. The vehicle was extensively damaged with deflated tyres and keys on ignition.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Nyarambi who was found in possession of Macphen's property valued at US$3 800.
Macphen's body was taken to Marondera General Hospital for post-mortem. Asst Insp Mwanza urged motorists, especially taxi drivers to strictly vet their clients.
