The MDC-T spokesperson, Mr Douglas Mwonzora, says those calling for Morgan Tsvangirai's departure as the president of the party, do not represent the voice of the generality of MDC-T members.

However, people like Ian Kay and Roy Bennett differ from people like Eddie Cross on Tsvangirai's departure.

Mwonzora told the state media, ZBC, that there are processes which are supposed to be adhered to and these have not been followed as there is a congress which is due in 2016, where everyone will nominate their preferred candidate for the MDC-T presidency.

Mwonzora also said the recent rejection by councilors of the party's directives regarding the election of mayors and deputy mayors is yet another negative development that the party is investigating and will get to the bottom of.

Unlike the Sekai Makwavarara case, in which the former MDC-T deputy mayor crossed the floor, councillors must be informed in black and white that their party will recall them if they become dissident, a situation which should lead to by-elections.

He said the MDC-T legislators, be it at the national assembly or council level, must stand warned that those who negate their party's role will be recalled, especially if they vote for Zanu PF councillors knowingly and without duress.

Mwonzora said the national executive council of the MDC-T will investigate the case of councillors who have been suspended by the provincial MDC-T leadership.
