Healthy expose` sparks heated Parly debate

The National Assembly turned into a battlefield as legislators across the political divide accused each other of vandalising the health sector.
The heated debate followed a series of stories run by the Daily News last week on the appalling state of public hospitals countrywide.
MDC legislators Ruth Labode and Peter Mataruse, who are medical doctors by profession, moved a motion yesterday in the National Assembly demanding that a parliamentary portfolio committee on health conduct an inquiry into the sector.
Labode said they were concerned by reports from Harare Central Hospital, where mothers are delivering babies on floors as well as the shortage of basic services such as water at most public hospitals.
