Eddie Cross ejected from Parliament

MDC-T Bulawayo South legislator, Eddie Cross, was on Wednesday ejected from parliament after he was seen reading a novel during proceedings. The incident has sparked lively debate among Zimbabweans on social network cites who have divergent views on the lawmaker's actions.

MDC-T sympathisers say Cross was justified to read the novel because some of what was being discussed in parliament was boring. However, other people from his constituency feel let down by the legislator, who is also the mdc-t's policy coordinator general, saying he is not doing his job.

Writing on his Facebook Wall, Herald journalist, Ceaser Zvayi said: "A cross we have to bear ... is this the best that Bulawayo South has to offer? Honestly!"

We reached Cross who says since his party declared that it was not going to participate in debating president Mugabe's motion, he had no choice but to occupy himself with the novel.

The speaker of parliament, Jacob Mudenda of Zanu-PF has warned members against breaking the house etiquette and decorum. On Tuesday, he ejected Zanu-PF Mberengwa East legislator Makhosini Hlongwane for answering his cellphone during deliberations.

Zanu-PF parliamentary Chief Whip, Joram Gumbo tells Studio 7 Cross disrespected the house by reading the novel and should have simply walked out of the house than read the novel inside parliament.
