Tsvangirai deserted by wife - report

A MOLE alleging to be operating from the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) headquarters, Harvest House, is rattling the party with sensational claims on his Facebook page alleging that his party leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, has allegedly terminated his marriage with Elizabeth Macheka-Tsvangirai, a mother of four.
These allegations were cemented by a report in one of Zimbabwe's online news outles Zimeye.
Zimeye wrote: "Former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is single again having separated from his young wife, Elizabeth Macheka, ZimEye is reliably informed, just as revelations surfaced that Tsvangirai is struggling financially.
Impeccable sources close to the 61 year old ex-Prime Minister have told ZimEye the MDC leader no longer has a marriage and his 36 year old wife is now living away.
"Hapasisina muchato apa -there is no marriage anymore, one close relative of Tsvangirai told ZimEye yesterday.
ZimEye said it is further reliably informed that Elizabeth now lives in a house in Borrowdale whose ownership was unclear at the time of writing.
If this is true, it means that the MDC leader's marriage lasted just over a year.
Another top senior source close to Tsvangirai once again told ZimEye that the marriage is no more and Tsvangirai's appearance with Elizabeth recently was only for media purposes.
"They are not together, they are trying to manage the media," she said, revealing that the two are not even trying to repair their relationship.
Efforts to obtain a direct comment from Tsvangirai were fruitless at the time of writing and the MDC leader has ignored previous communication.
It was not clear at the time of writing exactly what caused the split but it is believed it is a story that appeared in the state media appearing to reveal an extra marital affair between Elizabeth and a former boy friend.
