The Youth Assembly of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) formation led by former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has declared its continued loyalty to its leader saying Tsvangirai is the face of the people's struggle against oppression in Zimbabwe.

In a statement, the Youth Assembly said the party president represents the interests of peasants, workers and the poor.

"President Morgan Tsvangirai represents a brighter future full of opportunities for everyone. He has the answers to the cries and challenges faced by the youth, mostly to do with job creation, genuine and sustainable youth upliftment, provision of good health facilities among others," read part of the statement.

It said Mr. Tsvangirai will soon lead the people to the Biblical Canaan as he carries the hopes of many young Zimbabweans.

The Youth Assembly further noted that any utterances that there is urgent need for leadership renewal in the party are misdirected. "Any other utterances in the corridors of Rumour are null and void."

The assembly encouraged all the Zimbabweans who voted for the MDC-T in the recent elections to remain resolute.

"The idea of change has not been rejected neither can it be stopped it is just a dream that was deferred by dark forces of evil but one day the people of Zimbabwe  shall prevail and our will shall be granted. We continue to fight in the trenches and we remind Zanu-PF that a stolen election is not a real house but just an ice castle that will melt when the sun shines."

There have been calls for leadership renewal in the party with some senior officials saying Tsvangirai has to step down following the party's dismal performance in the July elections.
