A 33-year-old Mahusekwa man, Norman Shamuyarira, recently landed himself in trouble after he allegedly denigrated President Robert Mugabe labelling him a hobo after he was denied food during a Zanu PF victory celebration party.
Shamuyarira is alleged to have shouted "Mugabe irombe" loosely translated "Mugabe is a hobo" after he was denied food at a Zanu PF celebration party at Mahusekwa Secondary School last Thursday.
He, however, denied the charge of undermining Mugabe's authority when he was brought to court on Wednesday.
The court granted him $20 bail and remanded him to October 30 for trial. Marondera magistrate Josephine Sande heard that on October 12 this year, Shamuyarira of Mharapara Village, Chief Samuriwo, allegedly made the offensive remarks while speaking to one Watson Chivizhe, a member of the Zimbabwe National Army who was also at the party.
Chivizhe immediately reported the matter to the police, leading to Shamuyarira's arrest. Godfrey Makwanya prosecuted.
