A six-man gang pounced on Petro-Trade service station in Chinhoyi and made off with about $11 000 after disarming the security guard.
The robbers went to Petro-Trade in Chikonohono suburb on Monday at around midnight and ambushed Leonard Rukunda and took away his service Taurus revolver.
They threatened to kill him if he resisted but he managed to scream in the process alerting the security guard at the next premises.
The guard came to investigate and was also captured and both had their legs tied with shoelaces.
The robbers broke into the service station office before breaking the outer Chubb safe and took the safe that was inside it.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara said, "We are investigating a matter in which six men broke into a service station and stole money after tying the security guards."
