Former Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai has told a seminar in Oxford that Zimbabwean diamonds were a curse.
"The discovery of diamonds has been a curse rather than a blessing," he said adding "I am coming out of an election in which diamond money was used to subvert the will of the people."
Tsvangirai said that there was a scramble in Africa between the Chinese model of investment and the Western model of investment.
He attacked multinational firms saying they "don't accept that they are part of the society, they just go in to exploit. They must be accountable."
Tsvangirai was one of several African dignitaries that took part in a seminar at Oxford University which focused on how Africa can benefit from its minerals.
