Justice Chinembiri Bhunu, sitting as a judge of the Electoral Court, today ordered by consent the opening of all ballot boxes and election materials for the Mt Pleasant's National Assembly election held on 31 July.
The order follows a court application by the MDC-T candidate, Jameson Timba pursuant to the elections court petition that he filed to have the election held in Mt Pleasant, Harare set aside for reasons of electoral malpractices and irregularities.
The order by Justice Bhunu says the inspection will be done at the High Court from 10:00 hours on 31 October to end of day on 08 November.
Commenting on the outcome of today's Electoral Court ruling, Timba said this is a first small step towards getting justice for the bona fide residents of Mt Pleasant constituency.
