A FORMER Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) lecturer, Mr Chenjerai Pamhiri, who was recently in court for insulting President Mugabe, had a warrant of arrest issued against him after he failed to turn up for a court hearing.

The former music teaching assistant, who is not new to controversy, was supposed to appear in court for trial on charges of insulting the President but did not turn up, leaving Masvingo Magistrate Mr Oliver Mudzongachiso with no option but to issue a warrant of arrest.

Allegations against Pamhiri are that he insulted President Mugabe while shopping at OK Stores sometime in June.

It is the State case, as represented by Mr Tafirei Tandirai, that on an unknown date but sometime in June, Pamhiri was at OK Stores where he was shopping and while coming out of the shop, he insulted the person of the President and his office.

He also said he was aware of the plot by Central Intelligence Organisation officers to chuck him out of GZU.

"I am fully aware of the plot against me but go and tell all your bosses that Mugabe has no power over divine life. What is wrong with differing perspectives?

"I pay homage to Morgan Tsvangirai and go tell your leader that I do not subscribe to Mugabe's policies not at all. Munotitunga, hamutitungamiri, mbavha dzavanhu," he allegedly said.
