An Air Zimbabwe Boeing 737, which was headed for Victoria Falls, had to make a turn back after detecting a minor fault.

Air Zimbabwe Public Relations Executive, Shingai Dhliwayo told reporters that flight UM322 headed for Victoria Falls had to return to Harare domestic airport on Sunday after experiencing a minor fault.

Mrs Dhliwayo said the decision to fly back to base was a technical safety move taken in cognisance of the airline's 100 percent safety record.

The plane was heading for Victoria Falls on the 0800am schedule.

Some of the passengers had to be re-routed through Bulawayo while some were flown hours later.

Air Zimbabwe has one of the best safety records in the world.

The airline plies domestic, regional and international routes.
