Woman threatens to cast a spell to make lover impotent

A Harare man yesterday told the court that he is living in fear because his former girlfriend threatened to cast a spell to make him impotent.

Blessing Mudzengerere said his girlfriend Cecillia Manyenyemi told him that she was going to visit a Mufakose-based traditional healer to fix his manhood and render it useless.

Mudzengerere said this at the Harare Civil Court where he was seeking a protection order against Manyenyemi.

"I have been paying US$70 monthly maintenance towards our child's upkeep but she comes to my place of residence where she insults me using vulgar language. At one time she came to my workplace and dumped our child in front of the gate," he said.

"The second time she got inside and grabbed me by the collar resulting in me being suspended from work for four weeks. She has the tendency of filing assault reports to the police against me.

"She always threatens to go to Mufakose where she says there is a powerful traditional healer who can render my manhood useless."

In her defence, Manyenyemi told the court that she used to stay with Mudzengerere and problems started after he teamed up with his relatives to chase her away.

"He paid nothing to my parents and never supported the child, especially when she fell sick.  

He blocked me on his WhatsApp application. He has to take care of our child and there is nothing wrong with me visiting his workplace where he is employed by his cousin," she said.

Presiding magistrate Ms Rebecca Kavhiya barred Manyenyemi from visiting Mudzengerere's workplace to disturb his peace.
