Major General Martin Chedondo has said that the Zimbabwe army will continue to monitor and safeguard the country's borders and its key points against "retrogressive surrogates and puppets such as Dhlakama and Morgan Tsvangirai".

Maj Gen Chedondo was speaking as he officially opened a two-day Brigade Majors Seminar at the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Administration and Management.

He said senior army officers should be on high alert and ready to plan for any occurrences.

"As we deliberate during this seminar, let's not lose sight of the current threat, that is the resurgence of Renamo in Mozambique and internally the spate of petrol bombs which were thrown in different locations in Harare which to me are indicators to attempts to destabilise the country," he said.
