President Robert Mugabe has left for the Arab-African Summit to be held in Kuwait.

He will be among more than 60 leaders from African and Arab countries attending the summit which runs from the 18th to the 21st of this month. The major thrust of the meeting is economic link between Arab countries and Africa.

Egypt, which was suspended by the African Union (AU) will attend the summit because it is a key Arab country.

Zimbabwe enjoys relations with Kuwait following its principled stance of rejecting Iraq's occupation of the Arab country in 1990, leading its liberation. This is the third Arab-African Summit after the first one was held in Egypt.

The President is accompanied by the First Lady, Grace Mugabe, among other senior government ministers. Meanwhile,  Joice Mujuru is the acting president.
