A former police officer and director of Trinsec Security has been hauled before the courts for reportedly extorting $82 000 from BancABC executives.
Alex Mundiya of Manyame Park, lodged his bail application pending trial through his lawyer when he appeared before Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei yesterday.
Mundiya allegedly approached BancABC MD Hashmon Matemera claiming that his company was in possession of the bank's highly confidential information which he alleged had been leaked by its employees.
He claimed the information related to more than 40 of BancABC's valued clients and that disclosure to authorities like Zimra would cause the bank and its clients harm.
He demanded $82 200 to releases the documents before they reached Zimra.
