Star FM DJ, Munyaradzi Milimo's attempts to be set free have hit a snag after the courts dismissed his applications for refusal of remand.
DJ Munya and his alleged accomplices, Taurai Jani and Mohammed Matare who stand accused of kidnapping and murdering Tinashe Magorimbo through poisoning, will remain on routine remand after their application for refusal of further remand was dismissed.
Prosecutor Ms Junior Mugebe alleges that Magorimbo was murdered after failing to pay DJ Munya $5 000 compensation for having an affair with his wife.
The trio was granted $300 bail apiece on June 13 by High Court judge Justice Joseph Musakwa. Magorimbo allegedly paid DJ Munya $1 000 in February through Janhi and Matare as part payment of the $5 000.
DJ Munya commissioned Janhi and Matare to deal with Magorimbo after he had become evasive over the outstanding payment, the court heard.
In May, the group human resources director of Magorimbo's employer Premier Services Medical Investments, David Mandishona, allegedly received a text message demanding a $5 000 ransom for the release of Magorimbo who had disappeared, the court heard.
On the same day, DJ Munya allegedly went to Magorimbo's residence where he assured the deceased's wife Millicent that her husband would return the following day, ordering her not to report to the police.
The following day Magorimbo showed up undressed and staggering, his hands tied with a shoelace, and collapsed as he approached the ground floor of his flat, the court heard.
Magorimbo was rushed to West End Hospital where he was diagnosed of poisoning and died the same day .
