Zimbabwe 2009 Soccer Star of the Year Rahmson Zhuwawo and his lawyers are in hot soup after they allegedly doctored legal documents with the ultimate aim of dodging a maintenance case that has been stalking the footballer since October.

His lawyers now face arrest after a docket for the suspected fraud case was opened at Harare Central Police last week.

Police spokesperson, Inspector Tedious Chibanda, confirmed the case that has now been transferred to Makoni Police Station.

"Yes, the police can confirm that a docket for an alleged fraud case involving legal practitioners was initially opened at Harare Central Police last week.

"The case, which is now being handled at Makoni Police Station, involves the forging of legal documents, summons, in a maintenance case," said Inspector Chibanda.

Zhuwawo, who is club-less after he was offloaded by South African Super Diski side Amazulu at the beginning of the season, is back in the country and has been dragged to the court for reportedly defaulting on paying maintenance for the two children he sired with one Stella Rufaro Mapiye, resulting in him accruing US$9 100.

The case came to light during a court hearing of November 19 when the complainant, Mapiye, discovered Zhuwawo and his lawyer had already applied and won a rescission without her knowledge.

Documents in this newspaper's possession also show that the rescission judgment was then granted on November 18 without Mapiye's knowledge.

"In default, application for Rescission of judgment granted", reads the judgment.

A seething Mapiye said it was sad that a respected personality like Zhuwawo was going to lengths "just to avoid looking after his children."

"I was shocked during one of the court sittings when the judge produced a document that purported that I had agreed for rescission.

"Zhuwawo and his lawyer had documents they claimed I had signed when in fact I was never served with any paper. After all, how can I withdraw the case when it is clear Rahmson does not want to look after his children?

"It is sad that he has chosen to use unorthodox means just to avoid paying maintenance for his two children," said Mapiye in an interview.
