A 30-year-old Chirundu woman was seriously injured on Monday after an elephant ravaged the house she was sleeping in, resulting in bricks falling on her.
Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident, saying investigations into the matter were in progress.
"We received a report of Netsai Monga of Baghdad compound who is battling for her life at Chirundu Clinic after the house she was sleeping in was ravaged by an elephant which resulted in its bricks falling on her causing serious injuries on her head," he said.
It is believed that on the fateful day at around 9pm Monga retired to bed in her house made of bricks and a roof made of plastics.
At around 1am, an elephant came at her homestead and ravaged the house in which she was sleeping, resulting in the bricks that separated the rooms falling on Monga.
Police reports indicate that Monga shouted for help and was assisted by her neighbours who then reported the matter at Chirundu police station.
Monga sustained serious head injuries and she was complaining of back ache.
