The government says it is committed to deliver quality service through the adoption of the results-based management system that ensures an improved public sector performance and accountability.

The commitment from the government was made by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda at the official opening of the 6th African Community of Practice on Managing for Development Results meeting.

Dr Sibanda said the government has adopted the results-based management system as a basis for improving public sector performance and accountability, adding that it has become the guiding principle to policy formulation and implementation.

"The results-oriented approach to public administration is now the guiding principle to policy formulation and implementation. Recent approval of the ZIM ASSET plan is a case in point and a clear demonstration of the Zimbabwean government's commitment to deliver quality service through managing for results," he said.

Dr Sibanda noted that no public sector reform and modernisation would be complete without the adoption of information communication technologies (ICTs).

"A paradigm shift that promotes innovative ways of delivering public services is required as we push the development agenda to other levels, guided by the need to achieve results. ICTs will make our economies more competitive as we strategically position ourselves in the global market," he added.

The African Community of Practice on Managing for Development Results meeting is taking place on the backdrop of scarce resources to the continent.

Participants are expected to come up with concrete results-oriented action plans.
