The Palestinian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Hashem Dajani says his country is keen to strengthen cooperation with Zimbabwe in the area of information and media.
Mr Dajani expressed these sentiments when he met Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo and his deputy, Cde Supa Mandiwanzira, at his Munhumutapa offices in Harare Friday morning.
Professor Moyo welcomed the proposal to further strengthen ties with Palestine in the information sector and suggested that a cooperation framework be established first for the smooth implementation of programmes.
Ambassador Dajani spoke about the warm relations between Zimbabwe and his country, and his interaction with the people of Zimbabwe; reminiscing the support given to his country by former Minister Nathan Shamuyarira whom Professor Moyo described as the doyen of Zimbabwean media.
The meeting also discussed the Palestinian question and the situation in the Middle East in general where Professor Moyo said although the Palestinian question deserves priority, the western countries always set it aside in their practice of double standards on the international scene.
Zimbabwe and Palestine have diplomatic relations at ambassadorial level and Zimbabwe is supportive of the Palestinian quest for statehood through the two state solution, where Palestine and Israel live side by side in peace.
Zimbabwe also supports the Palestinian state's full membership in international organisations, including the United Nations.
In the recent past, the state of Palestine has been offering technical cooperation to Zimbabwe in the areas of horticulture, growing of medicinal herbs, and ornamental plants, artificial insemination and others.
