A 24-year-old Harare woman who molested two seven-year-old boys after watching an adult video and gave them R3 as a token will spend the next seven years in prison.
Trish Gomo, who resides in Mbare and is six months pregnant, sexually abused her landlord's son and a neighbour's.
Harare magistrate Mrs Sandra Mpindu sentenced Gomo to 10 years behind bars before suspending three years. Gomo pleaded not guilty to aggravated indecent assault charges but was convicted after a full trial.
In passing sentence Mrs Mpindu considered that Gomo was supposed to play a motherly role to the minors and not pounce on them, exposing them to sexually transmitted diseases.
Appearing for the State, Ms Ressie Nyamombe told the court that on an unknown date but in September the neighbour's son went to play with Gomo's landlord's son.
The landlord's child had not yet returned from school and when the woman realised that the boy was alone she called him into her room.
It is the State's case that she started playing an adult video, kissed him and threw him on her bed where she molested him.
Gomo gave the boy R1 for sweets while threatening him.
The abuse continued on seven different occasions. In the same month of September, the woman called the second boy into her room to watch a film by Rambo.
She locked the door and after watching the Rambo film for few minutes, laid the boy on his bed and sexually abused him.
She threatened to beat him up if he revealed the matter and gave him R2.
The offence came to light on September 16 when the landlord's child removed his sister's pants. The mother quizzed him and he revealed that he and Gomo always removed pants.
