ALPHA Media HOLDINGS (AMH), publishers Zimbabwe Independent, The Standard, News Day and Southern EYE this morning announced shock management changes that will be with effect from January 1, 2014, zimbabwefocus.com reported.

Current chairman, Trevor Ncube said in an internal memo that that the changes are in line with 'robust turnaround strategy that management has put in place and approved by the board and shareholders.'

He said shareholders are injecting fresh capital in the business as part of the turnaround strategy, which should ensure that the group weathers the current hostile economic environment in the country.

"Following the Extra Ordinary Board Meeting held on 5 December 2013, Alpha Media Holdings (Private) Limited (AMH) has made senior management changes in a repositioning exercise in which the Group Chief Executive Officer Raphael Khumalo has been elevated to the position of Deputy Chairman.

"The restructuring exercise to take effect from January 1 2014, sees the appointment of Rita Chinyoka as Publisher and Kangai Maukazuva as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to the new appointment, Rita Chinyoka was AMH Commercial Director, a position she assumed last year, having joined the group from Edgars where she was Brand Executive. Kangai Maukazuva is being elevated from his current position of Chief Technology Officer" said Ncube.

He added, "AMH has also appointed Thembe Khumalo to the new position of General Manager, Events and Conferencing. She is the outgoing General Manager of AMH subsidiary Munn Marketing.
