IT is said hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and the adage held true for a 27-year-old Chitungwiza woman who ran amok at the Chitungwiza Civil Court yesterday beating, up her husband and his ex-wife.
Primrose Gonye of Unit N, Chitungwiza accompanied her husband Divine Hwena to the town's civil court where his former wife Simolin Kapamba was seeking maintenance for the upkeep of their child.
However, during the session, the court heard that Hwena was trying to negotiate with Kapamba how he was going to pay for the maintenance.
The presiding magistrate, Ms Nomsa Sabarauta, asked the two to go and negotiate outside the court premises at around 1.15pm.
Gonye followed the two, and trouble started when Hwena asked Gonye to give them some privacy so that they could reach a consensus with Kapamba.
This did not go down well with Gonye, who insisted she wanted to know what they were discussing. Hwena then asked Kapamba to follow him out of the court building at which point all hell broke loose when the irate Gonye accused Hwena of trying to sideline her.
She then charged towards the two and floored Hwena with a flurry of punches.
The situation went out of hand when Kapamba got hold of Gonye in an attempt to restrain her from further assaulting her former husband.
The disgruntled Gonye turned her attention towards Kapamba and slapped her.
Police officers from the court intervened and tried to stop Gonye from her violent behaviour but she failed to heed the call, leading to the officers reacting.
Upon sensing danger, Gonye took to her heels but was apprehended by a fast-paced female prison officer, leading to her arrest. She was taken to the police post where she was briefly detained waiting to be whisked away to the police station.
Gonye is expected to appear in court soon charged with assault and resisting arrest.
