A FOUL-mouthed Masvingo woman found herself in the murky waters when her
lover's wife reported her to the police for sending her grossly
offensive text messages.
Western Commonage magistrate Themba Chimiso heard how on four occasions during the month of October, Jescah Mandizvidza, 32, of Rodney suburb in Masvingo, using two different lines sent disgusting messages to the complainant, Silibaziso Matemabi of Iminyela in Bulawayo.
Prosecuting, Fiona Ncube narrated how between October 10 and 28, 2013, Mandizvidza, angered by Matemabi's habit of answering her lover's cellphone, sent a barrage of offensive text messages to the complainant. The messages cannot be printed in a family paper like Chronicle.
In one of the obscene text messages, Mandizvidza, a mother of three, had the temerity to tell Matemabi that her husband had fallen love with her because she was not good in bed.
Mandizvidza even boasted that she was flirting with Matemabi's husband.
"I am a self employed woman taking care of your husband financially unlike you a loafer and there is nothing that you can do to stop me from loving your husband. We will continue to share him," said Mandizvidza.
The court was told that sometime in September, the complainant's husband, who only known as Max, left his cellphone as he was taking a bath. When Mandizvidza phoned, Matemabi answered during which the two exchanged harsh words.
When the magistrate asked Mandizvidza asked her why insulted Matemabi, she said: "Your Worship, I am sorry I acted out of ignorance I didn't know that it was a criminal offence to do so."
However, Chimiso had no kind words for her. "Do you really have to be taken to school for you to know that insulting someone is an offence?" Mandizvidza fined her $200 or 60 days in jail.
She was given up to January 30 to pay the fine.
