Police warn drunk drivers

Police has warned drunk and other errant drivers who are wrecking havoc on the on the capital's roads this festive season to desist from doing so or face the full wreath of the law.
The 2013 festive season saw a reduction in road carnage, with 81 deaths and 670 injuries recorded so far, compared to 144 deaths and 880 injuries for the same period last year.
The police says they are saddened by way-ward drivers who have committed hit-and-run incidents in the capital this festive season.
Police spokesperson Chief Superintendant Paul Nyathi also commended the nation for an almost crime free holiday, saying no cases of major criminal activity were recorded.
He said that the annual crime statistics for the year 2013 will be released early next year.
This festive season 1 199 vehicles were impounded for various offences while, 85 169 tickets were issued.
