Businessman nabbed for raping 12-year-old girl

A Honde Valley businessman, 50, has been arrested on accusation of raping a 12-year-old girl.
The businessman allegedly committed the crime in November but the matter only came to light recently after he raped her again.

Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the arrest of Owen Clement Mandikiyana, a workshop owner at Sagambe Business Centre in Honde Valley.
He said the 12-year-old girl was sent by her father to collect an axe at the accused's workshop.
"The girl went there with her two colleagues aged 11 and 10. Mandikiyana gave the two friends some money to go and buy some snacks and ordered the 12-year-old girl to remain behind.
"He dragged her into the backroom which he used as his bedroom and raped her. He threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to anyone.
"A few days after the incident, the girl was sent to fetch water with her friend at Sagambe Business Centre by their teacher. Mandikiyana saw them passing and called them, and ordered the girl's friend to go. He raped her again.
"However, rumours reached the girl's father that she has been going in and out of Mandikiyana's backroom workshop several times. He asked the girl and she explained everything, leading to Mandikiyana's arrest. The girl was referred to Hauna District Hospital for medical examinations," said Asst Insp Chananda.
