Police in Triangle appealing to the public to help in identifying the body of a man who was recently found floating in a river with hands and legs tied with a wire while a large stone was tied to the waist.

The yet-to-be-identified man is believed to have been attacked and thrown into the river to drown.
The assailants apparently tied the stone to their victim to quicken the drowning. No suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.

Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tinaye Matake confirmed the incident, saying the man was found floating near a bridge across the Pajiri River at around 7am on May 17.
According to police records, Shungudzemwenje Museva (35), who is a driver in Triangle, was travelling across the bridge going about his daily business.

Museva then saw "something" floating in the river, stopped and drew nearer to establish what it was.
He noticed that it was a human body which had hands and legs tied together with a wire.

He quickly reported the case at Triangle Police Station and the body was retrieved and taken to Chiredzi Hospital for a post-mortem.

Inspector Matake said police were appealing to the public to help in identifying the dead man, adding that they were still investigating circumstances that led to the man's death.
