COMESA to boost Zimbabwean firms
06 Jun 2011 at 13:11hrs | Views
Troubled Zimbabwean firms may receive financial help from the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
COMESA Business Council Forum Secretary General Mr. Trust Chikohora said the regional trading bloc is working on a financial rescue plan to bail out financially troubled firms.
The arrangement is being made on the realisation that several local firms are experiencing funding challenges and the rescue package is meant to restore productivity in key economic sectors.
Local companies are in need of at least $5 billion to recapitalise operations and increase output in line with the government's economic turnaround policies.
