Star FM presenter Munyaradzi Milimo,  and his two alleged accomplices in a kidnapping and murder case have had their bail conditions eased by a Harare magistrate.

Milimo better known as DJ Munya, Taurai Janhi and Mohammed Matare stand accused of kidnapping and murdering Tinashe Magorimbo through poisoning.

Through their lawyer Mr Archbod Madzima, the trio made an application for relaxation of reporting conditions and another for the release of Janhi's passport.

Mr Madzima argued that eight months have elapsed since the matter appeared before the court yet the State, led by Ms Sharon Mashavira, had failed to provide a trial date.

"The State assured us when we appeared before magistrate Mr Tenda Mahwe that the matter will be referred to trial. The second accused makes his livelihood as a cross border trader.

"We are praying for a temporary release of his passport for six months with hope that by that time we will be furnished with a trial date," he said.

Ms Mashavira was not opposed to the relaxation of reporting conditions but disputed the release of the passport for a lengthy period.

Magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei granted the application in favour of DJ Munya and his alleged accomplices.

"All accused persons will report once every month at Harare CID homicide. The accused's passport is to be temporarily released today and returned on the next remand date, March 3 this year," he said.

The trio were granted US$300 bail apiece on June 13 by High Court judge Justice Joseph Musakwa.
Ms Mashavira alleges that Magorimbo was murdered after failing to pay DJ Munya US$4 000 compensation for having an affair with his wife.

Magorimbo allegedly paid DJ Munya US$1 000 in February through Janhi and Matare as part payment of the US$5 000 settlement they had agreed on.

DJ Munya allegedly commissioned Janhi and Matare to deal with Magorimbo after he had become evasive over the outstanding payment, it is alleged.

In May 2013, Magorimbo disappeared and David Mandishona, one of his superiors at work, allegedly received a text message demanding US$5 000 ransom for his safe return.

That same day, DJ Munya allegedly went to Magorimbo's residence and assured the wife of the deceased, Millicent, that her husband would soon return and she should not contact the police.

The next day Magorimbo showed up at home undressed and staggering - his hands tied with a shoelace - and collapsed, it is alleged.
Magorimbo was rushed to West End Hospital in Harare where he was diagnosed with poisoning. He died on the same day.
