A Shamva man, 38, was fatally stabbed on New Year's Day after he was suspected of having an affair with a married woman.
Mashonaland Central Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Memory Pamire said they had arrested Alois Sibanda (49) in connection with the alleged murder.
She said Sibanda had already appeared at the Bindura Magistrates' Courts facing murder charges.
Insp Pamire identified the deceased as Fadzai Chitombo of Dzewe Village under Chief Bushu.
It is alleged that on January 1 at around 7pm Chitombo went to Sibanda's homestead to collect his torch which had been borrowed by the latter's wife. It is understood that Chitombo and Sibanda's wife were related.
When Sibanda arrived, he accused Chitombo of having an affair with his wife. Sibanda allegedly grabbed a log and assaulted his wife prompting her to flee.
Sibanda, it is said, turned on Chitombo and a fight ensued. Sibanda drew a knife from his pocket and stabbed Chitombo in the throat and forehead.
After allegedly stabbing Chitombo, Sibanda informed other villagers who rushed to the scene and found the man dead.
The matter was reported at Shamva police who attended the scene. Chitombo's body was taken to Shamva Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
