Zim police reshuffles senior cops

THE Zimbabwe Republic Police has reshuffled 45 of its police officers who were recently promoted.

The 45 are mostly assistant commissioners and senior assistant commissioners who have been transferred to different provinces and departments.

Last month police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri conferred the ranks of superintendent, chief superintendent, assistant commissioner and senior assistant commissioner to 138 officers promoted by President Mugabe.

Snr Asst Comm Godfrey Munyonga is the new officer commanding the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), taking over from Snr Asst Comm Simon Nyathi, who is now chief staff officer (internal investigations) at Police General Headquarters.

Asst Comm Crispen Makedenge takes over from Snr Asst Comm Munyonga as the Officer Commanding CID Law and Order Division.

Snr Asst Comm Charles Makono has been transferred from the Midlands to Mashonaland East as officer commanding the province. Snr Asst Comm Shadreck Mubaiwa now heads the Midlands.

The Acting Officer Commanding Mashonaland East was Asst Comm Erasmus Makodza, who has been reassigned to PGHQ as senior staff officer (operations). He replaces Asst Comm Jimmy Khumalo, who has been reassigned to the Support Unit.

Snr Asst Comm Douglas Jabulani Nyakutsikwa is now chief staff officer (Police Internal Security Investigations) at PGHQ, while Snr Asst Comm Felie Chikowero-Mjanga is the new Officer Commanding the National Traffic Unit.

The new Officer Commanding Matabeleland North province is Snr Asst Comm Sithulisiwe Mokuele while Snr Asst Comm Martha Mofolo commands Masvingo. Snr Asst Comm Mofolo takes over from Snr Asst Comm Munorweyi Shava Matutu, who now heads the Police Protection Unit.

Asst Comm Joseph Simbarashe Muzhona is the senior staff officer to Comm-Gen Chihuri.
