A commuter omnibus driver tried to run down traffic police officers at a roadblock near Southerton Police Station in Harare.
According to an eyewitness, Regis Munenzwa, the commuter omnibus driver was instructed to stop by the traffic police, but decided to speed away heading towards the officers.
The traffic police were assisted to chase the commuter omnibus by a passerby, which prompted the driver to jump off the moving commuter omnibus which was full of passengers.
The driver was arrested and no one was injured in the process.
Police Spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident and said the driver was trying to escape because he had no driver's licence and his vehicle had no road fitness papers.
The driver is set to appear in court later today.
