Police are looking for an armed robber who shot a male adult after robbing $800 from DJ Investments in Chikanga in Mutare on the 11th of this month.
The accused entered the shop wearing a mask with an AK47 rifle and fired two shots before ordering everyone to lie down.
He demanded cash and was given $800 dollars and two cellphones before he went out of the shop.
In a statement, police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the accused went into the next shop where he failed to steal.
On his way out, he was manhandled by Tandadzai Mazikana (40) and a scuffle for control of the firearm ensued.
Mazikana was shot three times, once on the palm, back and on the buttock. He is receiving treatment at Mutare Provincial Hospital where he is admitted.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Charamba said investigations are underway to identify the accused.
She also warned Zimbabweans never to attempt to disarm an armed robber or show resistance to avoid loss of life.
