A Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) operative has been dragged to court for rape.
Israel Mushunje, 31, of 3195 Prospect Waterfalls in Harare, appeared before Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei facing charges of raping his 27-year-old ex-girlfriend at the height of an altercation.
Prosecutor Tungamirai Chakurira alleged that on December 30 last year, Mushunje met the woman on her way from work.
He allegedly forced the lady into her car before driving off with her.
The court heard Mushunje told the woman that they were going to discuss issues concerning their relationship. But he diverted the route to his Waterfalls residence instead of going to her place.
It is the state's case that while at his Waterfalls residence, the woman was forced into Mushunje's bedroom and he reportedly shouted at her for messing up his life by reporting all their misunderstandings to the police, sullying his standing in the intelligence circles.
It is alleged Mushunje started slapping and strangling the lady before taking $200 from her handbag, without her consent.
He reportedly pushed her to the bed before raping her.
Mushunje released the woman from his house around 5 am the following morning.
He gave her back her car keys, cellphone and handbag before ordering the woman to leave his house, the court heard. She reported the matter to the police leading to his arrest.
