Brother kills brother over ox

A Gokwe man fatally struck his brother with a brick in a fight over proceeds of the sale of their mother's ox, police have confirmed.

Midlands Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Alton Hove (23) has been arrested for killing his brother Ocean Hove.

"On Tuesday at about 8. 30 am Alton Hove allegedly facilitated the sale of his mother's ox without notifying Ocean.  

"Ocean got a tip off from a family member that his mother and a young brother, Alton had sold a family ox without his knowledge. Ocean confronted Alton accusing him of conniving with the mother to sell the ox. He accused them of sharing the money and not giving him anything," said Insp Mahoko.

He said the brothers started fighting and Ocean tried to chop up his younger brother with a machete. Insp Mahoko said Alton ran away but Ocean pursued him with the machete.

"Alton picked a brick and struck Ocean on the head. Ocean fell down with blood gushing from a cut made by the brick. He was rushed to the hospital but died on the way," said Insp Mahoko.

The matter was reported to the police and Alton was arrested.
