The MDC-T president, Morgan Tsvangirai has postponed his state of the nation address slated for Monday in the capital to attend Bridget Mugabe's burial in Zvimba.
The state of the nation address in which Tsvangirai was expected to address business representatives, church leaders, labour union representatives, students and civic groups was postponed to Thursday.
Tsvangirai was expected to speak on how to solve the problems the nation is facing.
His spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka confirmed in a statement posted on Tsvangirai's Facebook page.
"At the time the address was arranged, there had not been a bereavement in President Mugabe's family. President Tsvangirai, who has already sent his condolences to the Mugabe family, believes that under the circumstances, it would be inappropriate to proceed with the event," Tamborinyoka said.
President Mugabe's only surviving sister Bridget 79, died on Sunday after four years in a coma.
