A Harare man has reported to a magistrate several abuses he has suffered at the hands of his wife, including beatings.
David Tika dragged his wife Linda Vhuka before the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against her.
He told magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami that Vhuka verbally and physically abuses him all the time.
"I am seeking the court to protect me from my wife," Tika said.
"She scolds and assaults me all the time and I want her to be barred from coming to my house."
Vhuka refuted her husband's allegations arguing that he is the one who abuses her.
"I do not agree with what he is saying because I am supposed to be the one applying for the order," she said.
"He assaults me every day and all along I have been quiet because I wanted to keep my marriage in a good state.
"He is no longer living at our matrimonial house. He does not buy food and spends his money with prostitutes.
"Recently we fought and he filed a police report seeking a divorce but the police advised him to do it the legal way. They (the police) said they cannot divorce people."
Magistrate Muvhami told Tika the court cannot bar Vhuka from their matrimonial home since the two were legally married.
He however, ordered Vhuka to stop abusing her husband in any way.
