Fugitive jailed 8 years

A 23-year-old Chikombedzi man, who fled to South Africa after stabbing a fellow villager with a knife, has been jailed for an effective eight years for the attempted murder.
Masvingo magistrate Ms Lyn Manyika convicted Trust Mhosva of Kwayi Village, Sengwe communal lands for attempted murder after he stabbed Manuel Sithole in 2007 following a misunderstanding.
Mhosva fled to South Africa where he lay low until his deportation in September 2012.
Facts are that on December 5, 2007 Mhosva was sitting on a footbridge in Hippo Valley with his friends when he was greeted by Sithole.
Mhosva responded by kicking Sithole, sparking a fist-fight.
Mhosva drew a knife and stabbed Sithole on the neck and back.
He then crossed the border into South Africa and was arrested after his deportation two years ago.
Mrs Mukai Mutume prosecuted.
