Seven people have been killed and 36 homes destroyed by rains, while several hectares of maize fields were swept away in Muzarabani North constituency.
In an interview, Zanu-PF for Muzarabani North, Alfred Mufunga said people in his constituency are grappling with the devastating effects as houses have been swept away leaving six people dead.
"The rains have destroyed homes and livestock. We have also lost seven lives," he said.
Mafunga appealed to the government for intervention as crops have been destroyed leaving many people facing food shortages.
With the rain season yet to come to an end and dam levels rising, there are fears the same areas might be affected by flooding.
The most flood-prone areas in Zimbabwe are Muzarabani, Gokwe, Middle Sabi, Tsholotsho and Chikwalakwala.
