A man reportedly sought refuge at a police station after being abused by his wife.

Steven Kamba alleges that his wife, Sarah Runesu, verbally and physically abuses him and treats him like a child.

Kamba hauled Runesu before the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against her.

He told magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami that Runesu always threatens him with unspecified action.

"She is always abusing me and treats me like a child," Kamba said.

"Recently, I slept at the police station after she had assaulted me and chased me out of the house. She threatens to cause havoc at my workplace so as to have me fired.

"Sarah suspects that I am having an extra-marital affair. She switches off her mobile phone whenever she goes out of the house and I no longer love her because of the way she treats me.

"She does not respect me and I feel like I am a woman in my own house. Whenever she sees me on the phone, she thinks that I am talking to a woman."

Runesu did not refute her husband's allegations but told the court that Kamba is obsessed with women.

"It all started when Steven started having extra-marital relationships," she said.

"I have seen a lot of love messages in his cell phone. He told my relatives that I had failed to sire children for him and blames me for treating him like a child."

Magistrate Muvhami ordered Runesu to live peacefully with her husband and not to abuse him in any way.
