A three-metre python was reportedly captured at Danckwerts farm in Harare after swallowing a kudu calf, the ZBC reported on Friday.

According to the Parks and Wildlife Management Authority of Zimbabwe spokesperson, Ms Caroline Washaya-Moyo, the three-metre long python weighing about 40 kilogrammes was captured at the Danckwerts farm situated near the Harare International Airport on Friday afternoon after swallowing a three-day old kudu calf at the farm.

"We were called in after the python was seen by the owner who said the kudu was born on Wednesday. We urge people to inform us as pythons are a protected species," said Washaya-Moyo.

According to the authority, 50 pythons were caught last year and were released into the Chivero Game Reserve.
