Darron Chakanya, 30, of Kambanje Village under Chief Mangwende committed suicide by drinking poison after his wife threatened to abort a two-month pregnancy when he disclosed he was HIV positive.
It is alleged that on January 9, Chakanya had a misunderstanding with his wife Sthembinkosi Kudangirana (27) after he revealed to her that he had tested HIV positive.
The Herald reports that this angered Kudangirana who threatened to abort her two-month-old pregnancy and divorce Chakanya.
On January 11 around midday, Chakanya allegedly drank a chemical (name supplied) and told Kudangirana that she would never see him again before disappearing into the bush.
Mashonaland East acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the incident and said Chakanya's decomposing body was found in the bush on January 20 by 14-year old Delbert Nyamukondiwa.
