Baba Jukwa, an insider in the ruling Zanu-PF party who uses a Facebook page to expose corruption in the regime, has claimed that President Robert Mugabe's 90th birthday bash in Marondera will gobble a whooping R30 million, Zimbabwe Focus reported.
Mugabe who turns 90 on February 21 2014.
Baba Jukwa, wrote: "Great Zimbabweans, hear me. Government is preparing to waste at least 30Million Rands on importing items for Mugabe's birthday.
I shall be telling you more in the next few hours today after I have settled down. This money comprises function fixture items which are being hired from South Africa (25Million) .
All these things and even better items could have been supplied from Harare here where we all know there are so many local businessmen who can provide, the benefits which would have injected more jobs for our youths. I shall tell you all more soon.
This comes at a time when Zanu PF is warning people going around claiming to be fundraising on behalf of the 21st February Movement to immediately stop or face the law.
Zanu-PF national youth affairs executive director Tapiwa Zengeya appealed to the corporate world and well-wishers to support an exhibition and fundraising dinner dance set for February 7.
The 21st February Movement was established in 1986 to encourage youths to emulate the self-less character and leadership qualities of President Mugabe. It is a day of retrospection and symmetrical recognition of the well-documented life of President Mugabe, born on the day in 1924."
